Legislative Update
A new law is set to go into effect in California this summer that will require bars and nightclubs serving alcoholic beverages to offer kits for testing common date-rape drugs.
AB 1013, introduced by Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal (D-Long Beach), mandates that bars with a Type 48 license from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control provide date-rape drug testing kits and display signs informing the public of their availability.
This proactive legislation underscores the importance of safety measures like the GHB/KET/BZO Rapid Beverage Test Strip, making it essential to protect patrons against drink tampering.
